Otherwise known as Root Canal Treatment (RCT)
Why do I need root canal treatment?
Root canal treatment (RCT) is is usually a successful way of saving your tooth.
Inside each of your teeth, there is mixture of blood vessels and nerves, when this gets damaged or inflamed. This allows bacteria to irritate your tooth causing pain, swelling or an infection.
Your dentist will advise a root canal treatment.
What is a root canal treatment?
The aim of a root canal treatment is to save a tooth by removing the blood vessels and nerves (pulp) that is inside the tooth.
This is done by making a small access cavity in the centre of the tooth and removing the pulp with motorised files.
The canal inside of the tooth root is made into a uniform shape and disinfected ready for a long cylindrical filling to be placed into the root of the tooth.
The dentist will then fill the access cavity with filling material and advise aftercare.
Or
If the tooth is badly damaged place a temporary filling and book you a further appointment for further treatment.
